Fifth Grade Computer Class

Computer Class is an extension of the TCA Information Literacy Curriculum.

Skills taught and practiced in this class enable students to become information literate as directed by the Colorado State Standards.

Students will have computer class twice a week for 30 minutes.

5th grade students will not receive a grade in computer class. Students will receive a progress report each quarter.

Students will be accessing their grades online. Therefore, students need to have an account on Infinite Campus and need to have District 20

Internet User Approval for this class.

To assess grades at home go to asd20.org -> Parents/Students ->Infinite Campus Portal Access -> login with student id # and password (first initial, last initial, birth date in 6 digits).

5th grade students will be using a word processing curriculum called Ultra Key. Computer class will also include instruction in the use of Microsoft Word and Internet Safety. Below is the order of keys, words per minute and accuracy students will be working on:

1st Quarte: The student is able to type 12 wpm with 95% accuracy

Please encourage your child to type at home even 10 minutes a day, can make a big difference. There are many online games/programs, one suggestion is Tux Typing. Tux Typing is a free typing program that can be downloaded to your compute. www.tux4kids.alioth.debian.org/
