Welcome TCA Sixth Grade Families

Seventh Grade Registration Form Link - Due Monday, May 31, 2021

Dear Rising Seventh Grade Families,

I am looking forward to seeing many of you at our Rising Seventh Grade Orientation tonight. Sadly, some of our families received information recently from their elementary campus that their child was quarantined and will not be able to attend tonight’s event. Parents with a quarantined child are still welcome to attend this event if they do not have a sick or symptomatic member in their household, but I completely understand that circumstances might make this too difficult.

Ideally every family would be able to attend this event to help them prepare for their child’s transition to junior high and to answer some of their questions. Reducing the anxiousness that often accompanies the unknown. Nothing compares with being there in person, meeting staff, and building excitement.

I will miss meeting your child tonight if you are not able to attend. We are quickly putting together some information for those of you that will not be able to make it tonight. We will be recording tonight’s meeting and sending out a link next week. We will also record a brief walkthrough video to help students get a feel for what the campus looks like. I will be offering a few questions/answer sessions over the summer for students and offering them an opportunity to come by campus over the summer for a twenty-minute walkthrough of the campus with the principal. These options will be sent out with the video link next week.

We will need all rising seventh grade families to fill out the digital course registration form by Monday, May 31 st. This form includes information about the classes your child will take in seventh grade, letting us know whether they will take choir or band, and shares information about the Secondary Parent-Student Handbook. This form will take less than five minutes to read through and digitally sign. Here is a link to the Seventh Grade Registration Form.

Looking forward to the year ahead.

Sincerely,

Dear TCA Community,

I always love this time of year; the leaves will be changing very soon, our classes are in full swing, and our activities and sports teams have begun with enthusiasm. As we bring this first month of school to a close, I wanted to provide you with an update on our progress with school related illnesses. First, we have been able to mitigate and keep COVID related school disruptions to a minimum. We are in frequent communication with the El Paso County Public Health (EPCPH) department about our requirements—which are far less than last year—and we give thanks to our community for continued adherence to our illness guidelines.

Moving forward, our COVID dashboard is now updated daily with active cases along with our FAQ's, which will be updated as needed with process definitions. Also, per EPCPH requirements, we will continue to exclude from school those who test positive, along with their household contacts, and we quarantine unvaccinated close contacts that are within three feet of a positive case for more than 15 minutes, in the traditional classroom setting. Per recent contact with EPCPH, we have increased attention on the last requirement, but since we have sufficient desk and seating spacing in our classrooms, we believe these quarantines will be minimal because of our small class sizes.

One metric to which we remain cognizant is our outbreak status. An outbreak is defined as five or more positive cases in any one classroom. To date we have had no outbreaks at TCA, but if we do reach that status, we stand at the ready to respond appropriately to health department direction.

TCA remains mindful of local and national media reports regarding vaccines and mask mandates. Currently, we do not expect these mandates to reach significant influence at TCA. Still, we encourage masking for those families who wish, and we encourage vaccinations for those that are able.

Thank you again for your flexibility, grace, and patience in working with us in this ever-changing climate. Be sure to enjoy this fall weather! Cooler temperatures are right around the corner.

We Are Titans!
